Been putting in some serious volume (serious compared with none) of late at 50 and 100nl since Feb 22 because I've got a broken leg and can't do fuck all else. Been smack on break even since the earthquake over 10k hands which is a little disappointing. I haven't been playing particularly well, calling too much OOP and making stupid moves. I always seem to treat any stake thats not the highest I play as play money which is really detrimental to my winrate. There are definitely still a huge amount of tards at 100nl so I think I can make it at a good clip there if I can keep to an A-ish game most of the time.
Some hands:
First off a bit of a cooler. Dude had a 3bet of 10% out of the SB so I think the call IP is good. Cound't think of many hands he could call two barrels with so I checked behind on the turn. Hand played itself.
Next is one I played badly. I flatted behind pre to keep the fish in. When he donks I'm thinking weak top pair or 2nd pair type hand. I think the turn and river cards improve his range too much so its a river fold. Raising the flop seems the obvious move in hindsight.
Prior to the next hand I had been folding tons of small pots to the fish to my left. I had seen him doing stupid stuff trying to take down 3bet pots so I flatted his 3bet and let him spazz out. It all went to plan until:
An then there are a fuck load of missplayed hands from 50nl which aren't getting posted.
Hopefully I can keep my inner donk under control and make some good plays. Want to put in a bit more volume over the next few days because I'm a rake back pro and thats how I make my money.

Donking around live
Had a cassy night last night. Went in about 8.45 and got a seat with Brad at opposite sides of the same 1/2 table, in for $140. Pretty standard 7 way limping live table to start with which sucks balls when you run as card dead as I did for the first 2.5 hrs. Fold or limp/fold flop were my only lines. Pick up KJcc in the CO and call Brads EP 2 $12 raise after a call in between. Flop KQx no spades. Flat Brads $30 C-bet, now heads up. Brad fires again on a blank turn and I tank fold the best hand so far. He later tells me he flopped a set of Kings. Top up another $40 to max.
An asian guy (Kelvin) sat down to my right which seemed to upset the rest of the table. He immediately starts raising about 40% of hands and 3betting a bit. This was great as it shook up the table a bit and made the live "regs" spew more by calling shit oop. I pick up AK,KK,KK,xx,AK in 5 consecutive hands. Win two small pots with cbets in the first two v Kelvin then loose two bigger ones on terrible boards 679J5sss etc with river folds. Kelvin chips up to about $800 by hitting the nuts every hand. Top up another $60 (in for $240). Must win a two barrelled pot with top pair to get to around $220 before I call an $8 raise with 69cc OTB after its called 6 way or so. Flop A92cc and checked to me. I stab at the pot and get called by the giant Greek whale in the SB and probably a couple others. Turn Ah, checks round. River some club and bet close to pot. The Greek guy raises AI over the top which I snap off. He happily flips over the 8 high flush. LOL.
Sit on a $400 stack for a while and whittle it back to $320 ish. Brad leaves and I get KJ in the BU which I raise a few limpers. Flop AJJr, asian friend of Kelvin who has me just about covered donks out close to pot. A bit confusing here, its hard to think of a non nuttish hand to do this with. I call. Turn x, 2nd pot barrel, I tank call. River x, Fires all in for close to $200. Fuck it I'm calling. He flips over AQ and I scoop a $650 pot. I'm not 100% on his logic for the line he took but its the easiest 300bb pot I've won. Next hand raise KQo and flop KKx v passive Maori lady and get one street. Lame.
Down to 5 handed at this stage and Kelvin straddles to $6 and I have A7o in the CU. I raise to $20 as I have for any half decent hands v his straddle as he never folds pre-flop. Ever. Flop comes 552r and I check in behind as we are 350bb effective stacks with a relatively inflated pot. Turn is a 7 and I bet $25 into $40 which gets check raised to $65. Kelvin is pretty aggressive but has generally turned up with the goods at show down. I donkishly cant give up TPTK and call. He fires $140 on a K river. At this stage I only beat bluffs with 22, 5x and almost ATC being in his range. Hero folds and leaves. Cash out $500 for about $260 profit. Was a pretty fun table to play at, so much better than the limpathons that you normally get live. The greek guy must have been in for over 1k, jamming preflop with such hands as 87o and 9To twice an orbit. Getting together a better live game but I'm still a nitty tell box. I can't remember the last bluff I pulled at the cass.

October Wrap-up
A couple of weeks in now since I decided to return to the degenerate world of micro stake 6max. Things have been going very well results wise, running at 22.8 bb/100 over 4500 hands and managing to put a bit of time into watching videos etc. Play wise I'm still just passive as and would get punished by more aggressive games. Had a good battle with this guy in the follwing few hands. I'm pretty sure 25nl has got weaker since I last played it.
Id seen him do some weird shit like calling down extremely light and turning show down hands into bluffs. Still didn't expect to get called down with A high.
These 3 hands are litterally back to back over 2 tables and I'm just trying to get it in with any pair. I think I could have folded the flop but I went for the jam option as those donkeys wern't folding any runner runner gut shot.
I played this terribly. No excuse for not raising that flop against players like this. Are you calling on the end here?

Part II: The Rebuilding Phase
Much like Christchurch, my poker career has become a pile of devastated rubble. Now it is time to rebuild. The plan is to crack back into the 25nl 6max and try and build a solid game to attack the low stakes 6max games. Im putting more focus on learning and improving than grinding for hours to build a roll. This is partly because mindless grinding didn't work last time and also that my roll has over doubled in the time I haven't been playing due to a couple donkaments. I'm going to put in somewhere between 10k and 20k hands at 25nl to establish a rough indication as to whether I'm winning or not then give 50nl another shot. Last time I was mentally under-rolled and bitched out after loosing 4 buy ins so I want to be a bit more prepared for another shot. So here we go:
Ive played 3300 hands so far over 5 short sessions with a bit of success. Having no worries stacking fish as I'm running nicely and I'm pretty much staying out of the way of any aggression. My red line is still shooting down pretty quick unfortunately, I think this is a product of my passive postflop game. Something Ive got to improve.
First hand is fairly straight forward. I don't think raising the flop is ever a good move here so I let the fish price me in. I think the turn is a good spot to fire one as I'm going to have trouble even getting a straight to call on the river with a 4 card flush on the board. What are your thoughts on river bet sizing?
The next hand is one that is closer than I first thought when I spazzed out and did it:
The fishes calling range on this flop is soo wide I raise the small cbet from the TAG for value and to protect against draws. I think the TAG is folding without a strong club. The fish check jams. Be interested to see how anyone else plays this.
Anyway, enjoying the game again and looking to really put a bit of time into learning how to play for a change.

Post when your winning
Got a couple of days off work for no particular reason other than a earthquake happened. No damage to home or work luckily. Decided to play some MTTs to waste a day. Entered in a 9.5K guarantee KO, a 4K guarantee cashout and a $16 Super turbo. Donk out of the super turbo pretty quick and watch Brad make a pretty deep run in it. Get bored in the 9.5K and get out with 280 people remaining with top 200 paying. So far not so good.
Focus now switches to the 4K cashout where I am sitting mid field most of the time. Pretty dry tournament with a heap of stealing and 3 betting. Most of the tourney played out like 50nl 6max in terms of aggression and stealing. The field thins down close to the bubble where I am sitting 58/58 with top 56 paying. Its getting a bit desperate at this point so I make the following play:
Thankfully hold and get a timely double up.
Pretty much don't see a show down for about 2 hours and I gradually build my stack up to about 6th with 8 remaining using my advanced bet and c-bet strategy. I won't bore you with the complexities.
I think I bust the next two players to get a decent stack of 280K going into the final table in 3rd place. This is where the cashout pool gets paid out at $5/3000 chips so I get a nice $480 present. Basically proceed to play like a spazz and work my way back into 6th for a while before other people get themselves out. End up heads up as chip leader so I take the +ev option of making a deal based of stacks. Take $740 to make $1220 all up. Sure beats cash table grinding.

You've got to win your money back!
If you have a loosing session you should always try to win your money back. My advice is to move up to a higher limit to win it back quicker. Playing heads up is another option if you've never tried it before. Played a 1000 hands or so on Friday at 25nl 6max and got smashed to the tune of $110, mostly due to bad play, coolers, pilsner and trying to play x-box at the same time. Conditions were not conducive to A game. Anyway, the moral of the story is that I didn't give up and managed to grind out a good win this morning.
Finally ran well and sucked out on people. Seems like I rely on sucking out for profit. There aren't many interesting hands to discuss because people at 25nl play stupidly most of the time.
I think I misplayed this a bit, I was pretty pot committed after my turn bet but I don't think there are any made flushes in his range compared with hands that miss. Still, not a great spot to be calling 50bb.
Went to the casino on Thursday night. The table I jumped on was one of the stickiest I've ever seen (even or the casino). Folding was not an option for anyone so there was no poker to be played, you just had to hit hands. Got a free card with 66 on a K55 board and turned a 6. Called a turn bet and shipped it over the top on the river for a double up early on. Pocket kings and I raise to 6x on the button. 5 callers and an A high flop of course so I fold. KK again a bit later on and I 3bet to $50 after an UTG raise and 3 callers. They all fold. Few c-bets later I'm down to about $140 again and I chase a flus with over cards and get there on the river which also pairs the board. I check to the aggressor and he unfortunately checks it back with two pair. He was the second biggest station on the table and was never folding anything so I was outside my mind to check into him. Anyway I cash out after a few hours for $203 (up from $100). It certainly is an easy game if you can hit some hands.

The Grind to Here
So this is a blog eh? Another poker blog. That no one will read.
I suppose I will start with my illustrious history.
March 09 deposit $20 on stars, my 50nl flatmate gave me an overview of the raise and c-bet strategy and I was away laughing. Dwindled my "roll" down to about $3.50 without a clue before the flatmate bankrolled me with another $10. From there I somehow ground up to about $60 and jumped to 5nl. Swung up and down with marginal skill to about $100 around August after 20k hands (playing around 5-8 tables at this time). At some stage I put $50 on titan for the Holdem Manager deposit deal. The titan software was impossible to deal with so that shit got the cut. Still got $100 on there after a drunken double up at 50nl a few months back.
At the start of August I decided the rake back option on Full Tilt sounded like a good deal and threw $50 on there and started back at 2nl. Gradually ground through the micros and am currently playing 25nl, looking to take some shots at the 50nl. Current FT roll stands at about $1100, $1250 being my min for 50nl. Playing between 12 and 15 full ring tables currently but making an effort to reduce that to work on my game at least once every 4 sessions.
