At some point you will run worse than you ever thought possible

I hope that I have just experienced that phase and it will never happen again. Maybe never playing again could prevent it. I dropped $1K over 12K hands at 50 and 100nl combined in 3 days. It hurt my feelings. It might have been the tilting, it might have been the 12 tabling, all I know is my bankroll has diminished.

Here is my 198 hand battle with a slightly laggy pro at 50nl. Here is a screen shot 65 hands after he sat down.

I'm calling the flop because overs are sooo good here. I hit hard enough to call a nice river bet when I'm crushed.

Managed to even the stacks and I was looking to take his last 400bb. That would have been sweet. Alas



Again I should have made it massive PF. Thank fuck he checked the river or else I was lossing 350bb right there.

Anyway I sucked balls and got rivered all the time and called ever raise just because I felt entitled to at least one pot a session. Time to work on my 94/29 game.

Post Earthquake Hands

Been putting in some serious volume (serious compared with none) of late at 50 and 100nl since Feb 22 because I've got a broken leg and can't do fuck all else. Been smack on break even since the earthquake over 10k hands which is a little disappointing. I haven't been playing particularly well, calling too much OOP and making stupid moves. I always seem to treat any stake thats not the highest I play as play money which is really detrimental to my winrate. There are definitely still a huge amount of tards at 100nl so I think I can make it at a good clip there if I can keep to an A-ish game most of the time.

Some hands:

First off a bit of a cooler. Dude had a 3bet of 10% out of the SB so I think the call IP is good. Cound't think of many hands he could call two barrels with so I checked behind on the turn. Hand played itself.


Next is one I played badly. I flatted behind pre to keep the fish in. When he donks I'm thinking weak top pair or 2nd pair type hand. I think the turn and river cards improve his range too much so its a river fold. Raising the flop seems the obvious move in hindsight.



Prior to the next hand I had been folding tons of small pots to the fish to my left. I had seen him doing stupid stuff trying to take down 3bet pots so I flatted his 3bet and let him spazz out. It all went to plan until:



An then there are a fuck load of missplayed hands from 50nl which aren't getting posted.

Hopefully I can keep my inner donk under control and make some good plays. Want to put in a bit more volume over the next few days because I'm a rake back pro and thats how I make my money.

Gone Whaling

Those are my typical 6max stats if you were wondering. The whale had just won 3 100bb pots in a row getting it in with a worse ace and hitting against the same dude. I couldn't hit anything against him and he folded when I flopped a set :(

50nl is still going alright, only a 1000 hands this weekend for a buyin or so though. Watched a video (recommended by Chris) by a Guy called Nikachu on CR and it was great for thinking about 3 betting against standard regs and playing pots against fishes. He is a fucking wierdo but if you can get past that there is a lot of good information.

I have taken to donking ou sets multiway. I really wanted to keep the passive fishy guy to my left in the pot so I didn't reraise the flop (probably a mistake). I was pretty sure the flush hit the fish but I knew I was getting his stack if I filled up so the implied odds were there as I could easily fold any non pairing river. Loosing play?



I haven't come up against any big hands in this shot at 50nl so I had kinda forgotten that I can be beat sometimes (by 2 people no less). Completely thought I was good on the turn so just clicked call without noticing it was 2x pot.

Made a Video (its not ready for the public yet)

I recorded an epic 4hour session of 4 tabling nl50 last night (4hours is epic for me to sit down for). I played relatively tilt free for a change and thing I made (to the best of my knowledge) some good decisions. There are several major issues I need to tidy up before I post it though....

1 - Its four hours long

2 - I'm sick and am sniffing constantly. It even annoyed me watching it.

3 - There are only four tables so lots of time where nothing happens

4 - I stop commenting on my play after 1.5hrs and the sniffing becomes more prominent

I might put the first 45mins in and then throw in all the interesting hands at the end with some commentary over the top to let you into the wonderful thing that is my thought process.

The realisation of extreme suckyness

I feel like I'm playing better than ever but my bankroll would beg to differ. I'm bleeding chips like a haemophiliac shaving in non-showdown pots and can 't win much at show down. See below:

Bad Internet Poker

I am running bad+ playing terrible at the moment. Been trying my luck at 6max NL50 and am a pay-off wizard. If you have a hand, I will pay your off. Probably with A high.

My options at the moment are to focus on watching some videos, playing 4 tables and developing some skill/Luck or sticking to pokemon on an old school gameboy. I think pokemon is the +Ev option. Luck is my best hope for poker at the moment. I have destroyed my 1.6k roll down to 1.2 in a matter of days which isn't flash.

Had an awful session over the weekend when I went on super aggro monkey retard spastic mongol donkey tilt. I kept running big hands into bigger ones and was not able to get away from them. Paid off set over set, A high over K high flush etc. Quit out of 4 tables and stayed in the 2 tables I had 150bb+ with the thought that a double up will make it all better. Hit the nut flush v a 3/4 stack and got paid off. Up to 260bb and feeling better. The very next hand was against the only guy who had me covered. I 3 bet with AJo from the blinds v a loose open from the button. From comes down KTx two hearts. I c bet out as standard and get called. Turn is x heart and I check, hoping to be able to rep the flush on the river. River is a T. I make a hand. I lead out with the intention of folding to a raise. The villain jams it all in and I move to fold. Somehow in my fucked up tilted psyche the messages are confused and the mouse moves uncontrollably to the call button which has grown to over 3 times its normal size. With my eyes closed I hear the click of the mouse. I shut the lid on the laptop without looking, already knowing the result.

Another shot at 50nl

My roll is back to 30 bi at 50nl so I played a few hands on 6max. Things went fairly well, called one guy down really thin twice and got 2 stacks but tried a couple of ridiculous bluffs to negate any profit. The hand below is pretty interesting I think. I called in position basically for mining odds. Flopped bottom set on a fairly nasty board. The initial raiser is a passive fish, the 3 bettor is a 60/30 fish and the first cold caller is the guy I have picked off bluffs from and is pretty spazzy.



I don't think there is a +ev play here... Calling and all draws have odds to call. Raise and I am only getting called by JJ, KK, AQ + combo draws. Interested to here others views.

March Recap (caution - a bit of a whine)

To put it bluntly, March wasn't good. Pretty much everything went bad 50nl, 25nl, live, online, everything. I have dealt with it pretty well I think. I have been listening to a deuces cracked mp3 series focused on tilt issues which has helped . 30k hands in March for -$600 (down 350 on EV), it hasn't been pretty. My play went a bit loose preflop and passive post which didn't help things, but neither did crap like this:




If I get it in with a good hand I am smashed by the nuts, if I get it in good It won't be that way by the river.




Had a decent winning session today though and I feel like I am getting on top of my game. Pretty sure I should have 25nl crushed again once variance sorts its life out again. Actually got some value for a few big hands and held:



I'm looking forward to getting back on the right foot this month and getting my roll back to its former glory. It would be nice to have something to show for the time I have put into poker this so far. 5 or 6k at the end of the year and something tangible from the FT or Iron man store would do this trick.

I just remembered me and a friend played the daily double on FT on Friday after I got a seat with FT points. Got donked out of the b tourney but hung around in the a for awhile. With the bubble approaching and a dwindling stack I started running down the clock to ensure I got my buy in back. The tourney starts playing hand for hand and I get 7's on the button. I see that the tourney is down to 179 ( 180 pay) and I jam and hope for a lucky double up. Little do I know, placings aren't done by on order of bust out but who had the smallest stack in the hand that busted. Someone else on some other table had a bigger stack so its 181st place for me! Hahaha ultimate bubble boy. I won't make that mistake again so I guess it was a cheap lesson at $15. For what its worth my friend goes on to finish 7th/1216 for 400 odd.

Hard Times and Some Live Play

It turns out my poker autopilot begins to fail at 50nl and I get into too many spots where I'm completely lost. I have been trying to develop some type of thought process to apply to each hand to narrow my opponents range. Its not working so well. Basically started running well below EV (something I can deal with), getting some nasty beats and turning into a station as a result. All in all I have pretty much succeeded in trimming my bankroll down to a tidy $1200 (it was getting a bit bloated anyway). Dropped down to 25nl to try and restore a bit of confidence and won a few buy-ins before getting absolutely smashed with set over set, flush over flush, quads over boat and boat over nut flush.

Back to the drawing board I suppose, I need to revise/ develop some strategy. Easter weekend looks like its going to be good for some grinding, hopefully with some better results.

Went to Chris' (http://deftona1.blogspot.com/) home game last Wednesday for a break from crappy online shit. Buy in for 200bb in a 25/50c game. Got J8/9s a billion times and missed every flop. Hit top set with KK and missed out on a ton of value from AK when he checked the river back to me on the flush card. About 3 hours in the game is down to 5 handed, I'm down to about $75 and I 3 bet A3o from the sb against Chris who had been going fairly crazy. Flop comes down A76 monotone and I c-bet. He calls and I check the King turn to induce the float and Chris bets out. At this stage I feel he is trying to get me off all my medium pocket pairs and missed hands. The river comes a 3 and I feel pretty confident Ive got him. I bet out 1/3rd pot and Chris re-pops me all in. Another 40 or so to call. Pretty sure Chris knows I have an ace but not two pair, I think he would do this with worse two pairs/ rivered straights and sets. Probably a pretty marginal call but I make it anyway and he shows 75s or something for the runner runner flush. Nh I'm off for the night. Chris goes on to two pair every flop and take all the money on the table $750 or something. I'm pleased I didn't re-buy.

Ssshhhh dont tell Full Tilt

Haven't been playing a whole heap but still making progress at 50nl. Running at about 6bb/100 over 9k hands. I cleared the fast 50 bonus on my account pretty quick so decided to have a look at the flat mates abandoned FT account and find he has a $400 bonus to clear. Transfer my funds to him and "get him" to start to unlock the bonus. Going to be pretty hard work to clear $400 in a month. Have to play roughly 30k hands. 2.5k hands in, $4.55 down but $31 unlocked so its a win I suppose.

Decided to hit the casino on Saturday night. Buy in for about $130 and start to play the tightest I have ever attempted. Win a small pot with aces early on then get it all in on the flop with a good combo draw and river the flush vs flopped 2 pair. Up over $300 a this stage and feeling solid. Basically fold out for ages and then raise on the button to $10 with A2s and am called by some foreign (read dirty German) guy in the big blind. I c-bet the 55Tr flop for $20 and am called. Double Barrelling seems like a good play because this guy can have any 2 cards so I fire another $30 on the K turn. The river comes and offsuit Ace and he fires out $75 into roughly $110. I pretty much intsa call and he turns over QJ for the nuts. Called the flop with air, turns the open ender and is soooo happy to show his dirty rivered straight. Go on a bit of a tilty bender and stupidly bluff this other uber donk off a couple of small pots where I obviously had nothing. Cash out a few hands later for $250 but still smarting about the German shit cunt.

Too hung and tired for any serious poker on Sunday. 2hrs sleep does not cut it so obviously its time for a bit of Titan. Fire up a $30 10 man tourney and figure out how to get my hud going. Play tight for a while while the table shoves chips around the place. 5/10 people playing >50% VPIP. Get it in a few times with AJ and AK and always have the opponents dominated and hold. Down to 4 left (3 pay) and one guy is sitting out. I tell the table to just insta fold to blind the guy out, they listen and I steal everything. Down to 3 and I'm 2nd stack, big stack kicks little stack and there were 2. I go on a stealing rampage and even up the stacks before getting it in bad for the first time and sucking to a flush. Couple more hands go by and I'm $120 richer. The quality of play was worse than in a $2 +.20 on Tilt. People didn't understand any basic strategy at all which was nice. Might have to make a habit of playing these, hugely under-rolled.

Took another crack at 50nl today after my initial 150 hand stab. Fired up 10 tables and started out pretty standard until I run into this guy who I have identified as a loose reg (but a solid winner at 50nl) who I have noticed pressuring the table. (will put up a video of the hand when I figure out how) I get dealt AsKc in early and raise to $2 and get called on the button by our reg friend.

Easy lay down at 25nl because the donk would definitely turn over a rivered set but I'm pretty sure the 6h hasn't changed anything. Its either some sick slowplay or a decent attempt at a bluff.

Are we calling here?

Anyway, we spazz off parts of some stacks and get some back to surprisingly end up $12 for the session. I am properly rolled for the stakes so I just need to get comfortable with the more (handy)capable regs. I kinda still feel like the 25nl guy below and need to feel more like the chick in red... but not in the vaginery kind of way.
